Uttar Basti, where oil or quath is administered, is recommended for urinary tract and gynaecological problems. The selection of oil or quath depends upon the disease to be treated. Uttar Basti is administered through the urethra into the urinary bladder. When treating gynaecological problems, Uttar Basti is given through the vagina into the uterus.
The pre- and post-procedures for Uttar Basti are the same as is being followed for Nirooha and Anuvasan Bastis.
Uttar Basti is indicated for problems of the uterus like heavy menses, scanty menses, painful menses, prolapse of the uterus, infertility and also urinary tract problems.
The dietary regimen is the same for all three types of Basti.
