Diverticulitis is a common disease of the bowel, in particular the large intestine.Diverticula are bulging pouches that can develop in lower part of large intestine (colon). Diverticulitis occurs when these bulging pouches get infected or inflamed. Mild cases of diverticulitis can be treated with healthy diet and proper rest but in severe cases doctor's advice is necessary.

Low-fiber diet/and high fat diet is the main cause of diverticular disease. These cause aggravation of vata and pitta doshas. Aggravation of vata and pitta dosha causes impairment of digestion. Impaired digestion causes constipation.Constipation makes the muscles strain to move hard stool, causing increased pressure in the colon. This excess pressure may cause the weak spots in the colon to bulge out and become diverticula. Diverticulitis occurs when diverticula become infected or inflamed.Since this disorder is directly related to improper food intake resulting imparted digestion,Ayurveda focuses on improving the digestion.This disorder can be treated through a balanced diet .Hence alongwith Ayurvedic herbal medicines proper diet is suggested to bring the required change .
