Sneha Vasti is an important part of Ayurvedic body de-toxification therapy known as “Panchkarma”. Vasti refers to enema, which is administration of medication through anal route.
Anuvasana basti is a type of sneha basti. and is mainly mainly for vataja disorder,On the day before administration of anuvasana basti ‘kosta shuddi’ should be done with the Anulomana / Virachana dravyas.This process helps in absorption of basti dravya. Usully all the practionar using chikkanapa or madyama paka taila are used for the Anuvasana basti. Satahva kalka and saindava are added to the oil of anuvasana basti. In the praporation of 6gm, 4gm, 2gm for maximum moderate and minimum quantity of sneha, This helps in increasing vata shamana property of oil and retaining time is also less. sneha basti has to give immediately after the meals.A metallic or plastic syringe is used to administer the anema into patient’s body. After the administration of Anuvasana dravya buttock are patted by the hands three to four times.. Heels and legs should be are raised from the cot for three times and massaged on the abdomen in anti-clock wise direction..Due to this method ,sneha dravya travel throughout the colon after light diet is given.
